pleasure
I was leaning into the right armrest. somewhere above the atlantic ocean. ignoring the dull glow of several miniature tv screens in the region. and admiring the cheap headphones adorning a head floating on a pair of shoulders nearby. remember your first walkman? me too.:) after smiling to myself I picked up my pad of paper and my favorite two pens and starting writing. and drawing. and that was the official beginning of pleasure.
I drew the cover. the boy with boombox. and I wrote the lyrics to ‘pleasure theme song’ and ’stepping on your grave’. I also made several little sketches. there was a space in the near future when I would find myself on another plane— an ‘olympic’ airline headed for athens. I would draw the cd’s inside sketches on an airline barf-bag. then I would think of the four figures as a coat of arms. if such a thing were ever needed it’s nice to know you have a coat of arms:
three months later pleasure was finished. it was recorded in my basement and hand packaged on my kitchen table. ben, peter, and myself were rehearsing for our first show. we had recently consummated our partnership in bringing bedm to the stage with the honest conversation of three friends and the delicious flavors of burrito loco. and here, several months after bedm’s live debut at portland’s doug fir lounge, we’re rehearsing again—maybe even eating—and I’m quite hopeful there will be many many shows to come.

the basement is good for homemade recordings. but there are no windows. so I’ve been doing most of the packaging of the cd at the kitchen table. in this pic you see a round of hand drawn covers (..’s 11-20). the cd fits into a stark array of folding paper. it’s sort of like a wedding invitation with a complementary full length cd. and without the wedding.
